Fall Hike Along the River (Yokuts)
4-mile, 1-A, hike along the Tuolumne River from Legion Park in Modesto. Meet at the parking lot by American Legion Hall (1001 S. Santa Cruz Ave.) at 8:30 AM. Dogs, children, and adults welcome. Info: Dorothy - 209.549.9155.

Dayhike (1A), Highway 4 History and Archaeologic Tour (Yokuts)
Join Barbara Balen, Stanislaus National Forest Archaeologist (Calaveras District), for an interesting and informative day in the Arnold area of Calaveras county. After meeting at the USFS district office in Hathaway Pines, we will check out the Sierra Nevada Logging Museum in White Pines, then take a short walk along San Antonio Creek to look at a Mi-Wuk archaeologic site. Ms. Balen will talk about cultural resources management on public lands and working with local native people on how best to protect their ancestry. Next, we will drive a few minutes to a trail head down stream and hike to San Antonio Falls overlook. Bring good hiking shoes, lunch, beverage/water, $$ for museum entrance fee and carpooling, weather-appropriate clothing, and the other "essentials". Meet at Cindy's restaurant in Oakdale (just south of Stanislaus River on Highway 120/Yosemite Ave.) at 8:30 am, or district office at 10:00 am. Day Hike (2B) Chewing Gum Lake, Emigrant Wilderness (Yokuts)
This is approximately an eight mile hike, from Gianelli to lovely Chewing Gum Lake to Crabtree at elevations of about 7,000+ with a steep climb at the beginning. This an intermediate hike. There is a short car shuttle. Swimming is an option, if warm enough. Bring lunch, ten essentials, and money for dinner on the way home. Potluck and Movie Night (Yokuts)
From its extraction through sale, use and disposal, all the stuff in our lives affects communities at home and abroad, yet most of this is hidden from view. The Story of Stuff is a 20-minute, fast-paced, fact-filled look at the underside of our production and consumption patterns. The Story of Stuff exposes the connections between a huge number of environmental and social issues, and calls us together to create a more sustainable and just world. Day Hike (1A) Chaw-Se, Indian Grinding Rocks State Park and Black Chasm Cavern (Yokuts)
See State Parks before they close!! We will check out Black Chasm Cavern near the town of Pioneer (Hiway 88) then head over to Chaw-Se for lunch. We will spend some time in the museum, walk through the reconstructed Native American village, and walk the 1.5 mile nature trail. Bring appropriate outer gear (be prepared for rain/cool weather), lunch, beverages, shoes that you don't mind getting muddy, and $$ for entrance fees/carpooling. Parents with kids OK. THURSDAYS:MIDWEEK HIKES IN THE GROVELAND/HIGHWAY 120 AREA
Each Thursday meet at Mary Laveroni Park, Groveland at 8 am (9am starting November 6) for an approximate 6-mile hike. Bring a jacket, water, sunscreen and a snack in a daypack and wear hiking boots.
