Inspired by the late Senator Paul Simon's book "Tapped Out", this documentary will discuss the worsening global humanitarian water crisis. Every day an average of 9,500 children die due to the lack of water or disease carried by polluted water. This film reinforces the message that water is a precious global resource and presents solutions to this crisis. Potluck will begin at 6 pm, the movie will start at 7 pm. Welcome!
Our Spring Fling 2008 Fundraising event is now in the history books. At the June 26th meeting, the excited attendees watched in anticipation as the entry tickets for each prize were dumped into the drawing, item-by-item. Jon Sturtevant then asked various members in attendance to avert their eyes while pulling a winner out of the basket for each prize.
Did you win a prize? Jon is contacting the winners, but if you want to know who they were, they will be published here and in the next newsletter. Or feel free to contact Jon by email if you just can't wait.
The Tuolumne Group of the Sierra Club provides monthly programs and outings, and it serves as a voice for the local environment of Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties. The Tuolumne Group offers residents a chance to join together with other environmentally-conscious people to hike, bike, or explore the forests and foothills of the local region. Monthly meetings range from educational programs to entertaining slide shows presented by members.
Local conservation issues are pursued to the extent that volunteers with the Club are willing to devote time and energy to specific issues. In addition to its local efforts, the Tuolumne Group serves as a link to the Mother Lode Chapter and the national Sierra Club for those seeking information or for those who are interested in supporting the Club's environmental efforts at the national level.
