Carpool Riders!

Be kind to your drivers! Take a plastic bag to put your boots into after a hike and don't leave trash in the car!

Although we encourage carpooling, a leader cannot arrange carpools.  Carpools are private agreements between the driver and each of his/her riders.

It is suggested that each rider contribute to their driver $4 for each hour of driving, plus an equal share of any fees incurred along the way (such as bridge tolls, parking fees and park entrance fees).   Examples: 1-1/2 hours to the trailhead (3 hours round trip) each rider's contribution to the driver is $12.  For a 2-hour drive to the trailhead (4 hours round trip) your contribution is $16.

Contra Dancing

The New England Contra Dance is a form of American Folk Dance.  Easy to learn and dance to live music with the help of a caller.  Contra Dances are not a Sierra Club function; however, many of our members participate.  They find it is a good way to meet new people.  Beginners are welcome!

In Sacramento, Contra Dances are held on the 2nd & 4th Saturday of every month from 8 to 11 p.m. (a beginner's workshop starts at 7:30 p.m.) at 4623 "T" Street (Coloma Community Center) and on the 1st Friday of each month at the Clunie Clubhouse in McKinley Park on Alhambra Blvd. at "F" Street.

For more information go to the Sacramento Country Dance Society Website.
