Contra Dancing Contra Dancing is a form of American folk dance in which the dancers form a set of two parallel lines. (It was all the rage in 1800.) Each dance consists of a sequence of moves that ends with couples having progressed one position up or down the set. As the sequence is repeated, a couple will eventually dance with every other couple in the set. It is easy to learn and you dance to live music with the help of a caller. Contra Dances are not a Sierra Club sponsored event; however, many of our members participate. They find it is a fun way to meet new people. Beginners are welcome! Date: 1st Friday each month Date: 2nd & 4th Saturday each month For information on more dances and contacts visit the Sacramento Country Dance Society Website
