El Dorado County Board of Supervisors
360 Fair Lane
Placerville, CA 95634

Dear Board,

I am writing to express my concern about the future of oak woodlands
in El Dorado County. The many hearings held on this topic have not
been convenient for regular people to attend and so I hope you consider
this letter my thoughts on the importance of oak trees.
The expansion of housing may be inevitable, but the loss of oak woodlands
would be tragic. The oaks of the County are an important heritage
of all citizens, from Native Americans to the most recent arrival.
The El Dorado County General Plan has many policies for oak tree protection.
Will those policies result in the protection of oak woodlands
where future residents will actually be living? Will corridors of native
vegetation allow animals a chance to survive the onslaught of urban
development? If the only result is preservation of oak woodlands miles
from where people live, you have failed in your obligations to the icons
of El Dorado County, our native oak woodlands.
Thank you for the opportunity to express my feelings about the future
of our oak woodlands.

Sincerely,

Citizen
