The sign was created by Rich Johns, painted by Diane Boyer, and installed by Wally Juchert. The mural was painted on the wall opposite the summer entrance by Susan Barry. The mural was fashinoned after the history on the Hutchinson wall:

"Highway 40 was closed by snow for many weeks during the early years; access was by night train discharging people in the dark of early morning.  They ate breakfast with railroad men at 'the Chinaman's' under the snow sheds."

The mural was framed by Wally Juchert.  The redwood for the sign and the mural frame were recycled from the original  redwood water tank (1925).

WORK PARTY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Volunteers have been revitalizing Hutchinson Lodge for the past two summers. We have made it much more comfortable and safe. Work party volunteers work four or more hours per day and then can receive free food and lodging at nearby Clair Tappaan Lodge. There are a variety of jobs, many of which require no special skills, and some that require carpentry and plumbing skills. Hutchinson Lodge is available to rent year round and several weeks have been rented this summer.

We have scheduled work parties this summer and fall. Many volunteers can only work on weekends, but there is a small core of volunteers that can work during the week. The work party schedule is subject to change if a group wants to rent the lodge.  We provide tools, materials and safety equipment. We hope you will join us to work and play in the Sierra.

To schedule your volunteer dates contact Wally Juchert and register with CTL, 800.679.6775 or ctlstaff2@onemain.com.   Thanks!
