This classroom instruction will focus on the following topics:

Composition for Nature Photography

Creative Macro Techniques

Night photography and Painting with Light

 

Critique of digital images taken during workshop

 

There will also be ample opportunity for photographing the beautiful Sonoma coast. Your instructors will be available during the field practice to help you implement the techniques learned in class.

 

The Stillwater Cove Ranch is a rustic ranch located in Jenner California, adjacent to Stillwater Cove, California just south of Salt Point State Park. The ranch is across the road from the coast and is surrounded by a redwood grove with hiking trails and an old schoolhouse. Photogenic peacocks freely roam the property at the ranch.

Workshop instructors Wendy Desormeaux and Jennifer Wu offer inspiring presentations and teach you how to expand your ability to capture creative images.

The fee of $225.00 includes dormitory accommodations or camping space for two nights, instruction and guided field practice. Cottages are available for rental for an additional fee. Attendance is limited to 12, so reserve a space ASAP. There is a small charge for food and the meals are prepared as a group.

 

Attendees of this workshop should have a basic knowledge of f-stops/depth of field and shutter speed. This course will focus on 35mm however, you can bring any format. A tripod and a macro lens or extension tubes are recommended.
